Helping underserved Hispanic & African American students find career paths they will be passionate about.

Year

2020-2024

Project overview

Many students are asked, “What do you want to be?” before they have had meaningful exposure to professionals, industries, college options, skilled trades, entrepreneurship, or careers in emerging technology. This deficit in exposure is particularly consequential for African American and Latino students, who too often encounter systemic barriers to college knowledge, advanced coursework, professional networks, and career-building opportunities. African American and Hispanic students are still underrepresented at many of the nation’s industry-leading coporations, where national research indicates they are disproportionately channeled into non-college-preparatory tracks and away from advanced coursework, reducing their knowledge of and access to future opportunities. PathExplorer provides students with early career exposure, relatable executives' mentorship, college and training navigation, and direct pathways to internships at top organizations in the U.S., so students don’t have to rely solely on family networks or chance encounters to imagine and access a fulfilling future.

Project process

Built a organization connecting students to executives at Goldman Sachs, Google, TikTok, Eli Lilly, Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, Cedars-Sinai, Raytheon, Boeing, and NASA. I recruited and coordinated 200+ industry partnerships with industry leaders across banking, private equity, aviation, shipping, medicine, academia, tech, and manufacturing.

Final result

Pathexplorer helped 8,000+ African American and Hispanic students over the span of four years. Coordinated 200+ industry partnerships with industry leaders across banking, private equity, aviation, shipping, medicine, academia, tech, and manufacturing. Raising $160,000 to facilitate in-person immersion programs.
